Ian has nearly 30 years of experience in fixed income, foreign exchange, money markets, and capital markets. He began his career as a forex trader managing commodity-related currency exposures before moving into money market trading and structured cash products. He later transitioned into capital markets and fixed interest portfolio management, where he was promoted to Senior Portfolio Manager in a team managing over R180 billion in fixed income assets.

He has held executive leadership roles at major South African asset managers, including Head of Fixed Income at PSG Asset Management and Momentum Asset Management. Across these roles, he has led investment teams, chaired fixed income investment committees, and been responsible for the implementation and execution of fixed income strategies. He has managed and co-managed income, bond, inflation-linked bond, and liability-driven investment portfolios, with assets under management exceeding R85 billion.
